Thanks to all who attended our #ChescoKnows Summit in September 2019 exploring ways we can work together to create healthy and safe workplace environments for all in Chester County.

To continue building momentum and fostering change around this issue, CCFWG and the Chester County Women’s Commission, along with local community partners, will be turning dialogue into action through the #ChescoActs campaign.

#ChescoActs Employer Pledge

What is the #ChescoActs Employer Pledge?
The #ChescoActs Employer Pledge is a collective effort and commitment on behalf of Chester County employers to change the way we think about and respond to sexual harassment in the workplace. This pledge indicates a commitment on behalf of your organization to establish best-practice interventions and policies to help senior management and employees work together to promote healthy and respectful workplace environments.

Why should my company take the pledge?
In addition to contributing to a positive workplace culture in Chester County, your company will be:

  • Recognized for its bold stance via Chester County Fund for Women and Girls and Chester County Women’s Commission’s websites, social media channels, and all events throughout 2020.
  • Among the first to receive information about resources and events related to #ChescoActs and CCFWG and CCWC happenings.

Your company may also be featured and/or quoted in local media about ways you are building a healthy and safe workplace environment.

What are ways my company can take concrete action?

  • Maintain workplace policies that educate ourselves and others about sexual harassment.
  • Ensure that all employees, clients and customers are aware of how sexual harassment should be reported and investigated.
  • Listen to and not retaliate against those who raise concerns or complaints of sexual harassment.
  • Pursue trainings and programs that address this issue:
    • The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County – Click here to learn more about the CVC‘s Respect at Work series to promote safety and prevent harassment. Developed by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR), this training is designed to support rape crisis centers in partnering with local employers to implement a holistic approach to preventing workplace sexual harassment.
    • Coaching Boys Into Men – Click here to learn more about the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County‘s Coaching Boys Into Men program, which is based around the basic tenants of respect, integrity, and nonviolence, and utilizes the skills and position of coaches of high school athletic teams to support athletes in understanding what healthy masculinity, healthy friendships, and healthy dating is all about. Their program brochure provides more information about how to bring this program to your school or community.
  • Learn and encourage dialogue through books by experts such as “The Drama-Free Workplace” or “Athena Rising: How and Why Men Should Mentor Women.”
  • Host a presentation of the #ChescoKnows survey findings at your workplace. To schedule, reach out to Michelle Legaspi Sanchez at michelle@ccfwg.org
